Moving

So, my father got a job in Alberta and since that job allows him to be at home with his family all the time, he is taking it. This means I am moving out there, with my family, this summer. I think the change will be rough and it'll be really hard at times but I think it's for the best. My dad has worked out of town for seven years now, and it's time for him to be at home with his family. I'm gonna miss all my friends but most of all I'm going to miss my boyfriend. We're going to make it work of course, it'll just be different. I'll be flying quite often, Air Canada will be my new bestfriend.

I am an seventeen year old female, going through my final week of highschool and I find life to be an adventure. Going through different obsticales as it passes you by. I wanted to make a bucket list to keep life's obsitales interesting. These are a few things I would like to do before I die. I am very outgoing so I find quite a few of these easy to do, but hey, if I finish I can always elongate my list. I am a huge Montreal Canadiens fan so a lot of my list has to do with that or just hockey in general, since I also play. I also want to see a lot of the world, travel and meet new people so on my list there is a lot of places I would like to visit in the near future. I hope to be able to complete my list, and be able to write many others that I complete as well. Life is a gift and we need to use it wisely and make the most of the time spent here on earth.

So what?

The artist of this picture probably wants us to see that there are always two sides to the story. There is the typically happy unicorn, and the rabid unicorn, the dark side. There is always two views on a situation, and you need to be aware of this. Not everything is what it seems and we can see that by these two very different unicorns. The white unicorn represents the good in people and the rabid unicorn represents the bad. People are generally good, but you always has to look out for the bad. 

Quickwrite #1 - Eden

My Eden would be a place of paradise similar to those in fairytales. There would be magic and evil queens, because well you gotta keep yourself busy doing something. Good would always win in the end. There would be princesses and they would ride off into the sunset with their true love. Where true love can break any curse and everyone can find it. There would be castles, and no technology pretty much what so ever. You would have to go to someone's door in order to contact them and not "text" them. Big romantic acts woul be very common but always unexpected. There would be hot pirates, good ones in fact. There would be dragons that Prince Charming would need to slay. There would be slight danger but everything would be exciting and entertaining but good would always prevail. 

Quickwrite #2 - Worst Meal Ever

I think the worst meal ever would have a lot of jiggly texture to it, it would be like a red meat but be a thick jello texture. It would be surrounded with sludge looking puréed vegetables. It would also have those pickeled onions and to top it off have rotten pigs feet. It would smell foul and would leave you wanting to throw up. This smell would be so bad it would stick to your clothing and leave you smelling horrible for the rest of the day. 

Skype Reflection

What went well? 

Today I think that the presentations of the procedural writing went really smooth, and it was pretty organized. The grade 3 students also seemed very engaged in what we were telling them and they seemed to really enjoy it, especially the minecraft one. Also Skype didn't disconnect on us, so that was pretty good too!

What is the value in collaborating with the grade 3 class?

I thin the value is being able to share our ideas with kids not our age to see the way they look at it is pretty cool. Young kids are pretty smart and it's awesome to see them understand what we're telling them and/or teaching them! Also we can learn some stuff from them as well as they are very insightful young children!

Skype Reflection

1) For our skype reflection my group which consisted of Taryn, Jasmine and Ariane we were the introduction group and we presented what a six word memoir (story) actually is. With out audience we tried to talk in enthusiastic tones and made sure everyone in the group had a little bit to say. We used big papers with the numbers 1-6 written on them to show how many words are in six word memoirs.

2) I feel that our mini lesson went really, really well. I think we talked in good tones, and were very clear with what we were saying. We put glitter on the numbers we held up so that the kids would be more interested. I think we did a good job of using words that the kids would understand and all had an equal amount of talking to do. I think that we could have had another visual for out presentation just to make it even more exciting for the kids.

3) I learnt that you need to take it slow with teaching and need to be able to answer questions that they have for you. You need to explain very well the point that you are trying to get across and need to speak clearly. I think you need to have something fun about what you are trying to teach as well so that the mini lesson sticks out in their mind and they don'y just forget it the moment the skype call was over.

4) For our next skype call I think we should be able to let the kids show us their finish products of their six word memoirs. I'd like to see the difference between ours and theirs. I also think the kids would like showing us their six word stories because it is something to be proud of.

With this weather all I can do is wish I was back in Florida right now swimming in the outdoor pool and snorkelling. Ah man, I wish.

The Best Day Of My Life

This was the day I met my idol and my hero, Carey Price. It was 1 in the morning here and I waited around for him for around an hour or so, but I've never been so excited in my entire life. He signed the back of my jersey and I got this picture, that I will cherish forever.  After I met him, I called my mom immediately and cried of pure happiness for about 45 minutes.
